On Thursday 13 March 2025, Centuria NZ’s Auckland team participated in a volunteer day at Shakespear Regional Park, located on the beautiful Whangaparaoa Peninsula, helping with conservation efforts to protect native wildlife.
The park has a series of ‘trap stations’ used to eliminate introduced species such as stoats, rats, and mice so native species can thrive in a predator-free environment.
Fifteen colleagues volunteered to remove old traps as part of the preservation program.
Armed with determination and a sense of adventure, the team scoured the bush and vegetation to recover numerous traps throughout the day.
Our team were guided by three Auckland Council park rangers who helped navigate the park using online maps with the approximate locations of the stations.
Perfect weather added to the overall enjoyment of the day. The volunteering was not only a success for native conservation but also a wonderful opportunity to bond with colleagues.
